Neuralgia Symptoms and Causes
Neuralgia is pain that follows the path of a nerve. In many cases, the causes are unknown. Neuralgia is most common in elderly people, but it may occur at any age. Symptoms of neuralgia include burning, stabbing pins-and-needles sensations, electric shock-like sensations, numbness, lack of feeling, muscle weakness, paralysis or sensitivity. Neuralgia causes can stem from various conditions, including autoimmune diseases, viral infections and chronic diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, lupus and vascular disorders.
