Patient Financial Assistance Programs

At North Shore-LIJ, our mission is to improve the health and quality of life for the communities we serve by providing world-class service and patient-centered care.

If you do not have health insurance, or if you need help with paying a hospital bill, there are several ways we can help you:

• Financial Assistance Program — If you are uninsured, or if your insurance claim is denied, or if you are not fully covered for treatment, you may be eligible for Financial Assistance through the hospital.
• Do You Qualify for the Sliding Fee Scale? — North Shore-LIJ has a Sliding Fee Scale Program where you can get routine medical care at a low cost in our clinics. Eligibility for the Sliding Fee Scale Program is based on your household income and where you live.
• Public Health Insurance — If you are uninsured, you may be eligible for one of New York State's public health insurance programs, such as:
  • Medicaid
  • Child Health Plus
  • Family Health Plus
  • The Medicaid Perinatal Care Providers Program
