North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) in Manhasset is an 806-bed teaching hospital that is spread across the 58-acre Sandra Atlas Bass Campus. The hospital is one of the cornerstones of North Shore-LIJ Health System and is academically affiliated with the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, employing a staff of more than 6,000.
North Shore University Hospital provides a comprehensive continuum of inpatient and outpatient services for adults and children, as well as a wide range of specialty and subspecialty residency programs, post-graduate training programs and clinical fellowships. It also was the recipient of the Consumer’s Choice Award as the No. 1 most preferred hospital on Quality and Image for the last 10 years.
North Shore University Hospital offers the most advanced care in all medical specialties, including open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, urology and maternal-fetal medicine. The hospital also continues to meet the needs of the community while offering specialty programs such as the Center for Human Reproduction, which is the longest standing facility on Long Island, along with the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center, which focuses on healing chronic wounds. In addition, North Shore University Hospital is the first and only kidney transplant center in Nassau and Queens Counties.
North Shore University Hospital is also home to one of the two Katz Women’s Hospitals. This is a world-class facility providing comprehensive, compassionate and superior care for a wide range of women’s health issues.The Emergency Department (ED) at North Shore University Hospital is a New York State Designated Regional "Level One" Trauma Center that offers the highest level of care to the most critically injured patients in the area. The physicians and nurses of the ED care for more than 90,000 patients per year and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
