Cytopathology Fellowship at LIJMC

So, you have decided to sub-specialize in the discipline of Cytopathology. Welcome to my world!

Established in 1996, the mission of the Cytopathology Fellowship Program has been to provide advanced training in diagnostic cytopathology leading to Board certification. The program is also well suited for those who are academically oriented. We provide an organized educational experience that exposes the fellow to both the theoretical and practical applications of cytopathology. Values that we feel are important are that the program practices and teaches state-of-the-art diagnostic pathology together with a strong foundation in pathogenesis and the molecular basis of disease.

This one-year fellowship provides training in both gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytopathology, including hands-on performance and interpretation of fine needle aspiration biopsies. Fellows gain experience with techniques such as immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, flow cytometry and image analysis.
