Endocrinology and Diabetes Fellowship at NSLIJHS

We offer a two-year fellowship in adult endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. The first year is devoted to clinical activities, including in-patient and out-patient experience. The second year, while continuing out-patient experience, is primarily a research year. The fellows participate in academic activities, including scholarly presentations and teaching of the housestaff throughout the two years of training.

This program is designed to fulfill the needs of those trainees who anticipate their future activities to be solely composed of the clinical practice of this specialty, those who expect to function as clinician-educators and those who intend to pursue careers in clinical and/or basic endocrine research. The program recognizes that some trainees may evolve into specialists whose activities encompass more than one of the above career paths. The teaching environment and educational experiences for trainees, detailed below, will equip them to become strong clinicians, educators and investigators in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.

Research

Fellows are expected to participate in original, scholarly research during the fellowship and present at local and national meetings, as well as publish in peer-reviewed journals.

The Division of Endocrinology is a unified program of North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. The divisional office and faculty practice is located off-site, at 2800 Marcus Ave, Lake Success, NY 11042.
