The Match and the Interview Process
To select our fellow, we use the NRMP's Specialties Matching Services and follow their schedule of dates for interviews, ranking and matching. (For details and dates please visit www.nrmp.org)
We only accept applications electronically through the Electronic Residency Application Service(ERAS) (Visit www.aamc.org for details). As a reminder, you ALSO have to be registered at NRMP to be considered for the match.
In addition to the ERAS application, we require the following documents for review before we decide to extend an intivation for an interview:
- A personal statement
- A minimum of three letters of recommendation including one from your general surgery program director (less than 6 months old).
- Your USMLE transcripts (or equivalent)
- Your ABSITE results
- A recently updated curriculum vitae (e-mailed to coordinator)
- Medical School Dean's letter
- Medical School Transcripts
- Applicant should be registered with NRMP
Applications are reviewed as they become complete. Applicants are invited to interview based on the quality of their application. We interview approximately 8 candidates each day, and each candidate meets with all available faculty members, as well as the current trainees and members of our nursing staff. We feel that this face to face visit is extremely important in the overall selection process. We attempt, as best as is possible, to coordinate our interview days with other training programs in the Northeast.
Final selection of the trainee occurs through the NRMP's Specialties Matching Service.
Our next interview dates are:
- January 30, 2014
- February 13
- February 27
- March 13
And if required
- March 20
