Benefits

The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System provides residents with a flexible benefits program called FLEX, which provides choices in various health, dental, life and disability options that best suit the needs of the resident. Child Care

Harbor Child Care is located on the North Shore campus in Building 6, one of the tenant apartment buildings. The center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Program. It offers programs for both infants (3 to 18 months) and toddlers (18 months to 3 years).

Housing

On-campus housing units are available and residents receive housing based based on a lottery system. The apartments range in size from studios to three bedrooms. Housing assigns apartments based family size. Pets are allowed. 

If an individual applies for housing and is denied due to the lack of a sufficient supply of apartments turning over, the Hospital will provide a monthly living allowance in the intern year that will be included in the individual's salary.  For more housing information, please contact Housing/RealEstate Services at (516) 465-3101.


Salaries

PGY1:  $64, 000
PGY2:  $66,000
PGY3:  $68,000
PGY4:  $71,000*

*Chief Residents receive an additional $1,500 stipend.


Vacation

Residents are entitled to four weeks (20 days) of paid vacation per year, with scheduling determined through the Administrative Chief Resident and Program Director, as appropriate. In addition, Chief Residents are granted one approved conference/meeting.
