Radiation Medicine Residency Program

North Shore-LIJ Health System's Department of Radiation Medicine and the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicineare now accepting applicants to their Radiation Medicine Residency training program.

North Shore-LIJ is the nation's second largest non-profit, secular healthcare system, with 15 hospital sites, more than 5,600 hospital beds, more than 42,000 employees and over 9,000 physicians. As the research branch of North Shore-LIJ, the Feinstein Institute for Medical Researchhas over 800 scientists conducting research and is among the top 6 percent of research institutions that receive funding from the National Institutes of Health.

The mission of our training program is to nurture and inspire the careers of future academic and clinical leaders in Radiation Oncology. The guiding value of the  Hofstra-LIJ Radiation Medicine family is to provide service to the local and world communities in all we do. To fulfill this service, we aspire to personal excellence, team performance, clinical wisdom, academic passion and educational ingenuity.  

The educational goals of our residency program are to meet the objectives outlined in our mission statement and to assure that our graduates excel in patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism and systems-based practice. In general, during the first two years of training, residents will be rotating onto clinical services that represent new clinical experiences and expectations and will be limited to development of core competencies and knowledge base. During the final two years, residents will be expected to round out their skill sets in specific disciplines, and to develop personalized skills for career development in clinical, translational and/or health policy research.
