Training Locations

North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York is a tertiary care facility that is one of the cornerstones of the health system. The hospital has 804 beds and a staff of approximately 2,700 specialist and subspecialist physicians. It offers the most advanced care in all medical specialties, including open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, urology, and maternal-fetal medicine. The hospital also excels in intensive care for medical, surgical, newborn, and pediatric patients.


LIJ Medical Center

Long Island Jewish Medical Center is a 488-bed tertiary adult care hospital with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, and modern facilities for medical, surgical, dental and obstetrical care. The medical center’s full-time staff includes more than 500 physicians, who supervise care in all major specialties and participate in the medical center's extensive teaching and research programs.

The hospitals continue to meet the needs of underserved members of the community through a comprehensive network of 65 clinics, providing primary and specialty care for individuals and families.

The Monter Cancer CenterMonter Cancer Center is a light-filled, Zen-like environment that features an indoor garden, a cafe, and 32 private chemotherapy treatment stations outfitted with lounge chairs and flat-screen television sets. There are 23 examination and consultation rooms. It is part of the Center for Advanced Medicine.

The Monter Cancer Center includes genetic and nutrition counseling, social work and support services, pain and palliative care programs, a patient education center and a nationally recognized clinical trials program. Spacious physician offices and high-tech conferencing capabilities with telemedicine to outlying hospitals and affiliated practices are also important components of the center.

Expansion of the Monter Cancer Center is planned to encompass fulltime faculty from the LIJ site in addition to gynecologic oncology, a brain tumor institute, and radiation services. The expansion is anticipated to be completed by April of 2013.
