North Shore-LIJ hospitals provide some of New York State’s (NYS’s) best outcomes for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and cardiac surgery, according to reports by the NYS Department of Health. North Shore University Hospital had a significantly lower mortality rate than the statewide average, earning a double-star ranking for PCI (all cases). Lenox Hill Hospital received a double-star ranking for non-emergent PCI cases.
Long Island Jewish Medical Center had the lowest risk adjusted mortality rate (RAMR) in NYS for adult patients undergoing surgeries to repair or replace heart valves and for those in need of Valve/Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery. LIJMC’s RAMR was significantly lower than the statewide average earning a double-star ranking. Only one other hospital in NYS received this prestigious ranking.
