Robotic Surgery Procedure
Robotic surgery, also known as computer-assisted surgery, was developed to overcome limitations of minimally invasive surgery. Instead of directly moving the instruments, the surgeon utilizes a computer console to manipulate the instruments attached to multiple robotic arms. A robotic surgery procedure called robotic prostatectomy, is a minimally invasive approach to prostate cancer. Robotic surgery is also used in robotic assisted single site surgery, robotic assisted pyeloplasty (removes urinary obstructions) and robotic assisted nephrectomy (for a kidney condition such as blockage of the ureters or kidney cancer).
