Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Shoulder replacement surgery may be needed if nonsurgical treatments are not effective for a number of orthopaedic and neurological conditions, including head and neck arthritis. Depending on the severity of your condition, the typical total shoulder replacement involves replacing the arthritic joint surfaces with a highly polished metal ball attached to a stem, and a plastic socket. Sometimes, only the ball needs to be replaced.
