Ureteroscopy Treatments and Procedures
Ureteroscopy is a procedure that involves passing a thin telescope through the urethra. The ureteroscope is passed into the bladder and then to the ureters, in order to view the surface and see the inside part of a kidney. The ureteroscopy procedure allows the urologist to see a stone in the ureter and then remove it with a small basket at the end of a wire inserted through an extra channel inside the ureteroscope. How the doctor proceeds during a given ureteroscopy procedure will be determined by the location, size and composition of the stone.
